Sarah and Ben’s love story began five years ago when they were in college. One week after meeting each other in their junior year, they started dating and never looked back.

Romantic Engagement

When Ben made the decision to ask Sarah to marry him, he did it right! A winery visit, a stroll through the vineyards to a table with sparkling wine and cheese, set for two, and a diamond ring. Ben asked Sarah to marry him right there, and she was over the moon! “It was a perfect day and a perfect moment”. (Sarah)

Sarah had always imagined celebrating with their families. Ben assured her they would go to his family, but Sarah’s parents were four hours away in Wisconsin at the family cabin. On the way, a bit disappointed, she called her mom and dad, brother and best friend, telling all of them about their engagement. Arriving at Ben’s parents, Sarah was still a little sad, but Surprise! They were actually all together, waiting to celebrate.

Planning

When we were asked to be designer, stylist and coordinator, we knew immediately this was a family we would love. The planning process went along smoothly until two weeks before the wedding. We received news from Karen, Sarah’s mom, that their venue had been destroyed that morning by a fire.

New Plan

Having to move fast, this family made it all work. Olympic Hills Golf Club was open to take in this “orphaned” wedding, and Gracia, their event manager, and crew were exceptional. We did some redesign, and with a lot of help from the other vendors, it was still the day Sarah and Ben had dreamed of.

Wanting a whimsical romantic look, we used pink peonies, blush roses, and white larkspur as some of our flower choices for bouquets and arrangements. We added silver accents and lots of candle light! The outdoor ceremony at Olympic Hills was beautiful, the reception magical, and after a brief rainstorm, their sunset pictures, breathtaking.

Sarah and Ben’s wedding was extraordinary, and we loved being a part of it. Enjoy these photos by Carly Mac Photography here, and then pop over to our Gallery for more!
