Kristen and Richard’s July wedding was held at Minnesota Harvest, an apple orchard located in Jordan, Minnesota. It took place on a typical sunny Minnesota summer day, which is Kristen’s favorite time of the year.

Heavenly Day

The ceremony was held in one of the beautiful orchard sites filled with wispy willows and beautiful hardwood trees. Under a canopy of green, it was a perfect setting for Kristen and Richard to start their Christ-centered marriage together. The service was officiated by a close friend of Richard’s, and Kristen’s sister and maid of honor performed a breathtaking rendition of “Heavenly Day.”

A Private Moment

Immediately following the ceremony, the couple was whisked away to a secluded spot under the apple trees to enjoy a few private moments before returning to their guests. They were treated with sparkling apple wine and a time to visit quietly with each other about the service before the excitement of the reception began.

The reception was held in the impressive barn, built in 2013 specifically for weddings, where they celebrated the rest of the evening with family and friends. Annie’s Catering provided a delectable meal, which was followed by five flavors of doughnuts from A Baker’s Wife.

Rustic Elegant Theme

Kristen is a runner, and Richard enjoys spending time fishing and hunting, so they chose a rustic, elegant theme to reflect their love of the outdoors as well as their appreciation for refinement and beauty. Choosing primarily shades of bright green, we also added Marsala red, eggplant, and pinks as contrasts to achieve this look and feel.

Green and Marsala

For Kristen and her bridesmaids’ bouquets, we used antique colored green and rose hydrangeas. Into each we added Queen Anne’s lace, gorgeous roses in Marsala reds and pale greens, along with other flower choices. On the guests tables were collections of green glass vases with single blossoms in each. Kristen’s mom and sister lovingly hunted the thrift store scene, procuring several for each. Playing on the natural outdoor theme through, the name cards were various colored green leaves. We also hung three 4 foot wreaths over the head table, creating another canopy of sorts!

Planning and Coordinating

In addition to the bouquets and arrangements, Kristen and Richard also asked us to be involved in the planning, designing, and coordinating of their wedding. Kristen’s sense of style and attention to details was absolutely refreshing, and we loved assisting her in developing her theme for the day. Additionally, it was a labor of love to make sure the day went smoothly behind the scenes.

Beautiful Day

We loved being a part of this celebration. It was a day of true joy, one made in Heaven!  “…because right now is only thing that all that we really have to do is have ourselves a heavenly day” (Heavenly Day by Patricia J. Griffin).
